TheStadiumBusiness ASIA Summit 2024 (#SAS24) is set to bring together top professionals in sports venue management and operations. This year, the summit is delighted to welcome Letian Hu, General Manager of Hangzhou Binjiang Olympic Sports Operation as a guest speaker.

Mr. Hu has an extensive background with Alibaba Group, where he held various management roles from 2005 to 2020, including positions at Alipay, Ant Financial, Alibaba Pictures, and Alibaba Entertainment. In 2020, he played a crucial role in securing the management rights for the stadium and tennis centre at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre through Ali Sports.

In 2022, Mr. Hu co-founded Hangzhou Binjiang Olympic Sports Operation Co., Ltd., partnering with the Hangzhou Binjiang District Government and Intime Business. As General Manager, he launched a 17-year venue operations plan, elevating the standards and market-oriented management of the venues. During the Hangzhou Asian Games, his leadership ensured the smooth operation of the Tennis Centre, significantly contributing to the event’s success.

Following the Games, Mr. Hu focused on attracting commercial resources to the venues, enhancing their benefits and developing a robust sports business service ecosystem.

More on the Hangzhou Binjiang Olympic Sports Operation
The Binjiang Gymnasium, located in central Hangzhou’s Binjiang District, is a standout venue. Completed in 2015 at a cost of 454 million yuan, it can accommodate 5,000 fans and has hosted events like the Chinese Basketball Association’s Zhejiang Golden Bulls games. Designated as the “demonstration venue” for Hangzhou 2022, it sets the standard for other venues with advanced digital technology for efficient operations.

The Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, known as “the Big Lotus,” served as the main stadium for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022. Its architecture, inspired by ancient silk textures and the Qiantang River’s waves, includes 28 petal-shaped structures and 27 smaller ones, making it a prominent landmark.
