#SAS24: ‘Lay & Play’ milestone for KTSP’s Youth Sports Ground
The first elements of Kai Tak Sports Park are nearing completion, with the state-of-the-art Youth Sports Ground – one of the first of the cluster’s major venues – taking delivery of its playing field.
Scheduled to open in the first half of 2025, the ground will form part of the TheStadiumBusiness ASIA ‘expert venue tour’ during the meeting from October 16-18.
The Youth Sports Ground, a centerpiece of this landmark project, features a pioneering “lay and play” natural grass pitch and an intelligent rainwater harvesting system for sustainability. With a capacity of 5,000 spectators, it aims to support a wide range of sports and community activities and will be accessible to the public for jogging and other events.
The hybrid turf system, chosen for its performance and durability, complements the advanced rainwater collection system that ensures optimal irrigation. The Youth Sports Ground will serve as a hub for sports development across Hong Kong, hosting local and international events.
In addition to the Public Sports Ground, Kai Tak Sports Park includes the showcase 50,000-seat, retractable roof Main Stadium, Indoor Sports Centre as well as a diverse range of outdoor event spaces and retail zone.
